Care Link system allowed us to monitor Jim’s safety with extreme privacy for him.
We couldn’t have been more happy with the results of this system.
One night we received a call from the care provider that they had not been able to reach Jim by phone.
This was not hugely unusual, however, I went to check on his monitor status, and noted he’d been in the bathroom not too long ago. This led to us calling about 1 hr later, with no response.
I checked the system and had noted NO movement in 1.5hrs. Not alarming, but concerning that he didn’t answer the phone. After 2.5 hrs we checked again and noted no movement or activity on his chair or bed. This was concerning and we sent over a neighbour. Sure enough Jim was on the floor (for his first time.
He admitted that he CHOSE not to activate his alarm because he didn’t want all the fuss! However, fuss is what happened.
It was very comforting and in a way empowering to be able to track our dad’s movements, or lack of movements and raise an alarm.
The next time he fell, he was smart and pushed his alarm for help. He was happy to be able to speak directly with the dispatcher and relay that he was not hurt, but simply needed help getting up. This was immediately relayed to us. We were able to activate EMS to assist our dad with getting up and being checked over. And he remained in his home that night with no injuries or concerns. This was a huge relief for us that he was safe and we did not have to make another long drive to check on him or pick him up.
We cannot adequately find words to describe how “at ease” and “comforted” we are with this system in place. Knowing our dad was both safe inside his home and safe from the outside intruders as well.
The fact that this system can be completely tailored to each person or situation is a huge advantage over other systems. And as WE grow older and look towards ourselves needing safety within our home, flexibility and tailored is exactly what we will expect. Long gone are the days where customers will have to fit into the program of safety and security. At least not with this system available.
